FUTAKAMI,Masashi : Sculpture Gallery

　北広島市JR エルフィンパーク・アトリウム内部に制作した作品です。この側面には子供たちが作った森の様々な形を配して、その森の中に見え隠れするエルフィン(妖精)を円形のステンレススティール作品として表現しました。
　外部の空の色を内部に取り組むようにつくられていて、晴天の日には青空を映し出した円(妖精)が、曇天の日は白い円(妖精)が現れます。朝焼け夕焼けの時には茜色の空が映し出され、夜はブラックホールのように夜空を映し出します。この形(妖精)は、アトリウム内のある一点から 見た時はじめて 浮かび上がります。定められた視点を外れると形は失われて見えなくなります。一瞬の一点という時間性を意識した作品です。
  この作品を依頼された時、「鳴き龍の天井のように驚きに満ちた空間を作って欲しい]と言われました。私は大学時代に1年間、実験心理学の研究室で視覚心理の勉強をしていましたが、その時の経験が役立った作品です。

  This work was created inside the Japan Railways Elfin Park Atrium in Kitahiroshima City. Various shapes of the forest made by children are arranged on side of Atrium, and the elfin (fairy) that appears and disappears in the forest is expressed as a circular stainless steel work.
  It was designed to work the color of the outside sky inside, and on clear days a circle (fairy) reflecting the blue sky appears, and on a cloudy day a white circle(fairy) appears. At sunrise and sunset, a madder-colored sky is projected, and at night, the night sky is projected like a black hole. This shape(fairy) only becomes apparent when viewed from a point in the atrium. If you deviate from the defined viewpoint, the shape is lost and you cannot see it. It is a work that is conscious of the temporality at a moment.
  When I was commissioned to do this work, I was told, "We want you to create a space full of surprises, like the ceiling of the Nakiryu."
I spent a year studying visual psychology in an experimental psychology laboratory during my university days, and this experience was useful for this work.

　北海道むかわ町の道の駅、四季の館に設置した作品です。むかわ町は道央圏の南部に位置し、太平洋に面した肥沃な大地と緑豊かな自然に恵まれたところです。特産のししゃもは、私の大好きな食べ物です。
  この作品は、そのような豊かな自然の中で、周囲の風を内に巻き込みながら、未来に飛翔するむかわの大地のエネルギーを造形化したものです。素材としてステンレス・スティールを用いることにより、太陽の四季折々の光の変化を作品に取り込み、光の四季を奏でる楽器のような彫刻を目指しました。

  It is a sculpture installed at Shikinoyakata, a roadside station in Mukawa. This work is a modeling of the energy of the ground of Mukawa town, which will fly into the future while entraining the surrounding wind inside. By using stainless steel as the material, the changes in the light of the four seasons of the sun were incorporated into the work, aiming at making a sculpture like a musical instrument that plays the four seasons of light.
